Which operating systems are in use?

What office products (word processing, electronic tables, etc.) are mainly used?

Networks

Are working stations in your institution networked?
What is the type of the network (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet 100Mbps, Ethernet mix 10/100/1 G, T-base)?
What are the other network equipments (2 routers, 1switches etc.) in use (specify number and type)?
To which other institutions are you connected through WAN and was there any particular purpose for doing so?

Internet and e-mail

How many employees have an access to Internet?
What is connection speed and quality? (Connection type: wireless, permanent modem connection, dial-up modem connection)
How many employees have their own e-mail addresses?
What kind of e-mail system is in use (Microsoft Exchange 4, Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Microsoft Exchange 2000, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Novell Groupewise, Eudora)? If none, state which type of access to e-mail do you utilize (web interface, pop3, etc.)?
Is the maintenance in place efficient?

Security

What kind of firewall is in place (software, hardware (NOKIA, CISCO), etc.)?
Do you have any regularly updated antivirus software?Which one?
Do you have a backup system in place?
Who is responsible for system security ?

IT Help Desk tools

Do you have any IT Help Desk tools such as remote control software, systems for handling incidents, configuration management databases or other?
